Northwestern Comes Up Short Against Ramblers, 2-0
10/9/2019 10:37:00 PM | Men's Soccer
EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern fell to Loyola Wednesday evening at Martin Stadium, as the Ramblers scored once in each half en route to a 2-0 victory.
The visitors took the lead after five minutes after a scramble in the penalty box led to a deflected close-range finish by Aidan Megally.
Early in the second half, Ty Seager had a shot blocked just a few yards from goal as the 'Cats looked to turn the game around. Just two minutes later, Seager had another attempt blocked from just outside the box as the forward continued to look threatening.
After another run at goal following a great through ball by Matt Moderwell, Seager collided with the goalkeeper after the play and was given a red card for the infringement, forcing NU to play the final half an hour down a man.
Ten minutes from time, Loyola added another on the counter attack, with Megally scoring his second of the game from the edge of the box.
Goalkeeper Robbie White finished with a trio of saves in the contest, including an impressive stop from close range on Megally in the closing minutes. Seager led Northwestern with two shots on the night.
The Wildcats will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 12, as they travel East to face Penn State in a Big Ten matchup. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
