Chicago's Big Ten Team had the visitors under pressure early, recording five shots in the first 12 minutes. The breakthrough came in the 21st, as Jake Roberge finished off a corner kick from Buescher at the near post for his first goal of the campaign.
The lead was doubled five minutes later, as Buescher tallied his team-best fourth goal on the year from close range. Matt Moderwell and Emmett Gordon each notched assists on the play.
With just second to go before half, the Wildcats earned a free kick just outside Concordia's penalty box which John Moderwell stepped up to take. His service was headed across the goal by Garrett Opperman and then met by Jose Del Valle, who finished it off for his second goal of 2018.
In addition to the 3-0 halftime lead, Northwestern boasted a commanding 14-1 advantage in shots for the period. The hosts also struck the post twice in the opening 45 minutes.
It took just 15 minutes of play in the second half for NU to add another, as Matt Moderwell finished off an impressive team move with assists from Drew Viscomi and Emmett Gordon. Buescher then put the lead at five with his second of the night and fifth of the season with just under 20 minutes remaining.
In the 76th minute, Buescher was at the center of things again as he won the ball off a Concordia defender and advanced towards goal. The senior found the corner with ease to finish off a hat trick in his final career regular season game for Northwestern.
Senior goalkeepers Robbie White and Braden Thuraisingham each played half of the game in goal for the hosts and a combined three saves to preserve the scoreless result.
