Northwestern men's soccer will begin its postseason on Saturday against Ohio State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Kickoff is set for noon CT in Bloomington, Indiana. Coverage will be available on BTN2Go.
Northwestern is 0-5-3 in the conference and 5-8-5 overall, seeded eighth in the Big Ten. Ohio State is 0-7-1 in the conference and 1-14-2 overall and seeded ninth.
The 'Cats and the Buckeyes met earlier this season in Columbus. After two overtime periods, neither team was able to get a shot in net and the game ended with a scoreless tie. Northwestern goalkeeper Miha Miskovic had two saves against Ohio State's Michael Prosuk and J. Jackson-Ketchup.
Last season, Northwestern was seeded eighth and edged out ninth seed Rutgers, 3-2, in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The 'Cats later fell to No. 1 Michigan in the quarterfinals.
On offense, the Wildcats are led by midfielder Camden Buescher who has tallied 14 points and six goals. The 'Cats have a solid defense, only letting in 20 goals during their 18-game season. In net, Miskovic is ranked second in the Big Ten in saves [66] and shutouts [8], with a .767 save percentage.
The 'Cats finished off their season with a 2-1 double-overtime loss against Wisconsin and a 6-0 shutout win against Concordia-Chicago at home.
The Buckeyes let in 32 goals during their 17-game season and are on a nine-game losing streak. Forward Devyn Etling leads Ohio State in goals [3] and points [6].
The winner of Saturday's matchup will advance to the quarterfinals and face No. 1 Indiana on Sunday.
