EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern plays its final road game of the regular season Thursday when it travels to Penn State. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. Central time.

The Wildcats and Nittany Lions enter the contest tied for ninth place in the Big Ten standings (6-10), a half-game in front of Nebraska (6-11). Northwestern closes out its regular season at home Sunday against the Cornhuskers. The top 10 seeds for next week's Big Ten tournament avoid having to open tournament play on Wednesday.

A victory on Thursday would be Northwestern's 19th and would match the school regular-season record. The 2009-10 Wildcats posted 19 regular-season wins en route to a 20-win season overall. The 2010-11 team also recorded 20 wins overall.

The Wildcats are coming off a 98-59 home win over Rutgers last Saturday. Northwestern jumped out to a 19-4 lead and never looked back, eventually leading 48-18 at halftime. Tre Demps hit each of his five 3-point field goal attempts in scoring 17 of his game-high 24 points in the first half. Five NU players scored in double figures, including Alex Olah who recorded his third double-double of the season by posting 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bryant McIntosh handed out 13 of Northwestern's school-record 33 assists in the contest.

Northwestern hit 17 3-pointers in its victory over Rutgers. The total was the team's most ever in a Big Ten game and its third most in a game overall. Demps tied a career high with six triples in the contest, while Aaron Falzon added four to raise his team-leading total to 60 which is the second most ever by an NU freshman.

Demps is set to appear in the 130th game of his career Thursday which would move him into a tie with John Shurna for second place all-time at Northwestern. Only Drew Crawford (143) has played in more games at NU.

Northwestern is playing at Penn State for the first time since the 2012-13 season. The Wildcats have won their last two contests at Bryce Jordan Center, most recently winning 70-54 on Jan. 10, 2013. Northwestern dropped the first meeting between the teams this season, 71-62, on Jan. 16 in Evanston. Demps led all scorers with 22 points.

Scouting Penn State
The Nittany Lions are coming off an 88-57 loss at Michigan State on Sunday. Shep Garner paced Penn State with 22 points. Brandon Taylor leads the team with averages of 16.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while Garner contributes 14.3 points per contest. Penn State has won its last three home games, defeating Indiana, Iowa and Nebraska.
