Northwestern Falls to No. 25/23 Indiana on the Road

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Northwestern fell to No. 25/23 Indiana, 89-57, at Assembly Hall on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Alex Olah came off the bench and led all scorers with 19 points, while classmate Tre Demps chipped in 17. Yogi Ferrell paced the Hoosiers with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
The Wildcats drop to 15-6 on the campaign and 3-5 in conference play. Indiana remains perfect in the Big Ten (7-0) and improves to 17-3 overall.
After the Hoosiers scored 10-straight points to begin the game, Northwestern used a 9-3 run of its own to bring it to 13-9, but were never able to gain the lead. The Wildcats turned to their veterans early as Demps and Olah accounted for the team's first 20 points.
The Hoosiers outscored Northwestern, 13-4, over the final 5:04 of the first half to take a 17-point lead into the locker room. Indiana shot 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes to distance itself from the 'Cats.
Dererk Pardon provided a spark for the Wildcats in the second half, scoring eight points over a three-minute stretch. The freshman is 14-of-17 on field goal attempts over the last three games and is now shooting 71.4 percent (35-47) in Big Ten play.
Northwestern shot 52.0 percent (13-of-25) in the second half and finished the game shooting 45.5 percent (25-55) from the field.
Sophomore Bryant McIntosh had six assists in the game, which brings him to 298 for his career. The Greensburg, Ind., native has dished out 148 assists on the season and is just nine shy of the program's single-season record set by Tim Doyle during the 2006-07 season.
After playing back-to-back road games, Northwestern returns home to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Thursday, Jan. 28 to take on Michigan State at 8 p.m.

• Sophomore guard Bryant McIntosh, a native of Greensburg, Indiana, entered the game with 142 assists on the season. He added 6 more to his total on Saturday and now has 148. The mark ranks fourth on Northwestern's single-season assist list, right behind his total of 150 as a freshman. The NU single-season record is 157 assists by Tim Doyle during the 2006-7 season.
• McIntosh grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds in the contest, one game after recording a career-high 7 boards at Maryland on Tuesday.
• Senior center Alex Olah, who prepped at Traders Point (Ind.) Christian Academy, scored 19 points in the contest. The total is two shy of his season high accomplished on four occasions. Olah's career high is 25 points vs. Michigan on March 3, 2015.
• Freshman center Dererk Pardon connected on 4 of his 5 field goal attempts in the game. He entered the contest ranked second in Big Ten play with a .705 field goal percentage. Pardon raised that mark to .714 following Saturday's contest.
