‘Cats Finish Third, Advance to Match Play vs. Arkansas

CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 19, 2025) – The Northwestern University Women's Golf team is advancing to match play on Tuesday, finishing in third place after four rounds of stroke play at the NCAA Championship Finals in Carlsbad, Calif. The 'Cats will face the sixth place Arkansas Razorbacks.
The 'Cats move on to the quarterfinals as the field narrows to the top eight schools. NU will tee off at 9:40 a.m. CT. Golf Channel and the NBC Sports App will have live coverage of the quarterfinals at Noon CT and semifinals at 5:00 p.m. CT. Live scoring is available via Scoreboard.
Tuesday's matchups include:
Dianna Lee vs. Kendall Todd
Elise Lee vs. Reagan Zibilski
Ashley Yun vs. Abbey Schutte
Lauryn Nguyen vs. Clarisa Temelo
Hsin Tai Lin vs. Maria Jose Marin
The Wildcats (+2; 291-285-280-298=1154), who are advancing to match play for the third time since 2017, shot a ten-over 298 on Monday. Lauryn Nguyen finished T14, recording her eighth top 15 finish of the season. The 'Cats had three student-athletes finish in the Top 20 – Nguyen, Yun (19) and Dianna Lee (T20). Elise Lee finished T40, shooting six-over for the event and Hsin Tai Lin carded ten-over, finishing tied for 54th.
No. 1 Stanford (-27) followed up their record-breaking performance on Sunday with a four-under 284 to win by 21 strokes. The Big Ten champion Oregon Ducks finished second at six-under for the event. Florida State and Southern California rounded out the top 5. Razorback Maria Jose Marin, the sixth-ranked collegiate golfer, finished at 12-under to win the individual title by two strokes.
