College Park, MD - In a game marked by resilience and determination, the Northwestern Wildcats delivered a commanding 17-9 victory over the No. 2 ranked Maryland Terrapins, marking their first triumph in College Park since 2006.

Led by the dynamic duo of Izzy Scane and Madison Taylor, who each recorded an impressive 6-goal performance, the Wildcats showcased their offensive firepower from the outset. Sam Smith initiated the scoring for Northwestern in the first quarter, setting the tone for the game. Despite a quick response from Maryland, Northwestern maintained their composure, with Scane's second goal propelling them to a 5-4 lead by the end of the opening quarter.

The Wildcats continued to build momentum in the second quarter, extending their lead to 8-5 by halftime. Scane's third goal, coupled with Lindsey Frank's contribution to the scoreboard, ensured Northwestern maintained control heading into the break.

The third quarter saw Northwestern's dominance reach its peak, as they outscored Maryland 6-1. Madison Taylor emerged as a key figure, netting three goals to further widen the gap between the two teams. Northwestern's defensive solidity was equally impressive, as they thwarted Maryland's offensive efforts, limiting them to just one goal in the quarter.

Despite Maryland's late resurgence in the final quarter, with three goals of their own, Northwestern remained composed, responding effectively to maintain their lead. Izzy Scane fittingly sealed the victory with a last-minute goal, capping off a memorable performance for the Wildcats.

The game drew a record-breaking, sold-out crowd, emphasizing the magnitude of Northwestern's triumph and highlighting the growing enthusiasm for lacrosse among fans. The 'Cats will look to carry the energy from the game through the next week. The 'Cats will return home to take on Ohio State in Northwestern's Martin Stadium at Noon C.T. and the game will air on B1G+.
