College Park, Md. - The Lake show is back on the road in anticipation for an exciting B1G showdown as the No. 1-ranked Northwestern Wildcats collide with the No. 2-ranked Maryland Terrapins on Saturday April 6, 2024. Scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park, MD, the highly anticipated rivalry match up will be televised live on Big Ten Network.

In their last encounter, Northwestern emerged victorious, securing a 14-9 win over Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament championship. Led by tournament MVP Izzy Scane, the Wildcats showcased a dominant defensive performance, conceding only three goals in the second half. Scane, along with standout players Erin Coykendall, Molly Laliberty, Hailey Rhatigan, and Samantha White, earned spots on the all-tournament team for their outstanding contributions.
The history between these two teams is rich with competitive spirit, with Maryland emerging victorious in several memorable games, including the 2019 NCAA Semifinals, the 2016 & 2017 Big Ten Tournament Championship, the 2015 NCAA Quarterfinals, the 2014 NCAA Semifinals, and the 2010 National Championship. Adding to the intrigue, both head coaches, Cathy Reese of Maryland and Kelly Amonte Hiller of Northwestern, were former teammates at Maryland, where they clinched consecutive National Championships in 1995 and 1996.
