'Cats Come Up Short at No. 15 Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Northwestern volleyball team could not overcome a dynamic Golden Gophers offense Wednesday on the road, losing to Minnesota in straight sets (18-25, 19-25, 17-25).
The loss dropped Northwestern's record to 4-13 overall and 2-7 in Big Ten play.
Buse Hazan finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Wildcats attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .464. The 'Cats got 12 digs from Drew Wright to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-18. Northwestern trailed by as many as 13 points as Minnesota never gave up the lead.
SET 2 | Northwestern then lost set two 25-19 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Northwestern trailed by as many as six points as Minnesota grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was knotted up 10 times before the Golden Gophers took over the lead.
SET 3 | Northwestern could not win set three and was swept by Minnesota. The Wildcats fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before losing the set 25-17.

The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, when they will complete the road swing against the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington. That match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
