EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern makes the trip to Uncasville, Conn. for the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena this weekend. The unbeaten Wildcats (3-0) are set to take on Rhode Island (3-0) at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 18 on ESPN+ and AM 1160 WYLL, and will square off against either Mississippi State or Washington State on Sunday, Nov. 19 on ESPNU or ESPN2 and AM 1160 WYLL. Derek Jones (play-by-play) and Chris Spatola (analyst) will have the television call, while Andy Masur (play-by-play) and Billy McKinney (analyst) will have the radio call all weekend. The radio broadcast from both games will stream on The Varsity Network.

Last time out, the 'Cats grinded out a 63-59 win over Western Michigan on Tuesday night (Nov. 14), improving to 3-0 for the third consecutive season and fifth overall time under Head Coach Chris Collins.

Boo Buie led the Wildcats against the Broncos with 21 points, five assists and two steals. Brooks Barnhizer stuffed the stat sheet with a career-high 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. The Western Michigan game marks the third time in the past two years that two Wildcats have tallied 20+ points in the same game.

Buie, a preseason All-Big Ten selection, is averaging 21.0 points (3rd in B1G) and 3.7 assists per game (12th in B1G). He is the first Wildcat to post those marks in the season's first three games since Bryant McIntosh in 2015-16 (21.3 ppg, 6.3 apg).

Barnhizer is the first Northwestern player to average 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game over the season's first three games since at least 2010-11. Through three games this year, he is one of only two players in the Big Ten to post those numbers alongside Purdue's Zach Edey (20.7 ppg, 10.0 rpg).

The 'Cats forced 17 WMU turnovers while committing just seven. Northwestern has won the turnover battle in every game this season and is averaging 17.0 turnovers forced per game. NU's 10.0 steals per game this year lead the Big Ten, and the team ranks second in the conference and 18th nationally, posting a turnover margin of 8.3.

The Wildcats are making their second appearance in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, last playing in the MTE in 2017-18. NU split a pair of games, defeating LaSalle 82-74 before falling to Texas Tech, 85-49.

The Wildcats will face Rhode Island for the third time in program history on Saturday, with URI taking the two previous meetings. The Rams are 3-0 this season after defeating Central Connecticut State, Fairfield, and Wagner.

The Wildcats will square off against either Mississippi State or Washington State on Sunday. The 'Cats are 0-1 all-time against Mississippi State and 3-3 all-time against Washington State.

Northwestern is seeking its first MTE championship since winning the 2011 Charleston Classic by posting triumphs over LSU (88-82), Tulsa (69-65) and Seton Hall (80-73).

After the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, Northwestern returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena at 7 p.m. CT on Monday, Nov. 27 against Northern Illinois.
