Wildcats Host Spartans and Wolverines This Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 25 Northwestern hosts Michigan State on Friday at 6 p.m. and No. 6 Michigan on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Combe Tennis Center this weekend.

The Wildcats are 12-5 and 1-1 in the Big Ten while Michigan State is 13-7 and 0-2 in conference play.
Michigan is 12-2 and 2-0 in conference play and is riding a nine-game winning streak heading into the weekend. Four members of their singles lineup feature in the ITA Top 125 singles rankings.
The 'Cats are coming off a road trip split in their opening weekend of Big Ten action, defeating Penn State 4-3 but falling 4-0 to No. 3 Ohio State.
The Spartans fell at home to Wisconsin and Nebraska last week, ranked No. 63 and No. 73 respectively. They are 0-5 in their other ranked matches, coming against Middle Tennessee, Louisville, Princeton, Tulane and Western Michigan.
The Wolverines have put together one of the best campaigns in the country this season, with top ten wins against Ohio State, Baylor and TCU. Their two losses were on the road at No. 10 Wake Forest and No. 19 Harvard.
The Wildcats defeated Michigan State 7-0 last year in Evanston, with Trice Pickens, Simen Bratholm and Prelsey Thieneman all collecting singles wins.
The Wolverines bested the 'Cats 4-2 last season - the 'Cats took the doubles point and saw a win at No. 6 from Gleb Blekher.
The Wildcats' No. 1, Steven Forman, will face off against his former school in Michigan, where he competed in 2018-19. He did not compete in the programs' meeting in 2021.
