
#3 Northwestern Takes Down #20 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. - No. 3 Northwestern capped off its double-header weekend with its second win of the season against No. 20 Duke, 24-20. This game marks the most points scored against Duke under Combe Family Head Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller.
The Wildcats came out firing with an 8-0 run against the Blue Devils in the first 12 minutes of play. Duke slowly began to cut into the lead, but Sophomore Izzy Scane was able to put up two goals within a minute, giving the 'Cats a a 14-8 advantage going into the second half.
Senior Lindsey McKone and Scane led the team in the first half with three goals apiece. First-year Jane Hansen followed close behind her teammates with her first two career goals. All-in-all seven 'Cats found the back of the net in the first half.
Northwestern maintained its lead for the entirety of the second half, never letting the Blue Devils get within six-points. Junior Lauren Gilbert opened up the scoring in the second half, with two shots in under two minutes. McKone and Scane finished the game strong, leading the team with five goals, while senior Megan Kinna and Gilbert were hot on their tails with four.
The 'Cats will be coming back to Ryan Fieldhouse for another double-header weekend next weekend where the will face No. 7 Notre Dame on Friday at 7 p.m. and ASU on Sunday at 12 p.m.
