EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 23 Northwestern looks to bounce back Thursday night against the visiting Michigan Wolverines at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
After their loss against Maryland the Wildcats, fell to 17-3 overall, 7-2 in Big Ten play and are now tied for second in conference with Maryland. Michigan comes off a win against Rutgers, and is now tied with Ohio State for eighth, going 4-4 in Big Ten so far.
While the Wildcats are coming off a loss, their at home play has been stellar. The 'Cats have gone 9-2 at home and hope to continue improving that record while Michigan stands at 3-3 on the road.
No. 23 Northwestern still battled hard against the Terrapins. Sophomore guard Veronica Burton stoked the offense in the first half and junior guard Lindsay Pulliam picked up speed in the second half to lead the team with 20 points. The game was her tenth this season and third in a row with at least 20 points.
Junior forward Abi Scheid now ranks second in the nation and first in the Big Ten in three-point percentage at 47.5 percent. Burton remains first in Big Ten and top five in the nation in steals per game.
Pulliam leads the 'Cats with 18.6 points per game while Naz Hillmon leads the Wolverines with 16.1 points per game and 8.8 rebounds. Three other Michigan players average double digits, while only two Wildcats can say the same. However, the Wildcats boast a higher three-point rate than the Wolverines, shooting 34% from behind the arc.
