Despite Comeback Attempt, NU Falls to Maryland, 13-8

Junior Alex Erro had a strong game, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored, and a triple. The Miami, Florida, native increased his batting average to .317.
Maryland scored first in the game, tallying four runs in the first two innings. Northwestern answered, however, scoring once in the third on an Erro RBI triple.
After the Terrapin offense exploded for five in the fourth, Northwestern chimed back with a significant run of their own, tallying six runs, all coming with two outs. Jack Dunn singled up the middle, driving in two, followed by an RBI single by Erro and then a two-RBI triple by Shawn Goosenberg.
Maryland scored once more in the fifth and again in the sixth.
Northwestern threatened with some small ball in the eighth inning and a picture-perfect bunt by Jack Dunn drove in one run to make the score 11-8.
Dunn increased his career hit tally to 207, moving him into a tie for 16th place all-time in Northwestern history.
The 'Cats and the Terps will play a doubleheader tomorrow to wrap up the series. The first game will start at 11 a.m. with the second game starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest.
