Kellen Strahm has been one of the most effective batters in the Mountain West, with a Conference-best .426 batting average, in addition to 19 RBI ... The .426 batting average is in the top-15 in the nation ... He has also stolen 12 bags, second-most in the conference ... As a team, SJSU has a 4.84 earned run average.
THE BROTHERS ARE GETTING IT DUNN: Redshirt first-year David Dunn and senior Jack Dunn are fourth and fifth in the Big Ten in batting average, respectively ... David is hitting .367, while Jack is hitting .351 ... NU and Michigan are the only teams to have multiple players in the top-five in batting average.
SUCCESS ON THE BUMP: Sophomore southpaw Quinn Lavelle has made six starts, four of which have been quality starts ... Eight of his 16 total earned runs allowed this season came in one start at Kent State ... Not counting that effort, he would have a 2.37 ERA ... In four out of his six starts, he has allowed one or fewer runs ... He has allowed only one home run in 30.1 innings pitched and has induced a team-best four double plays.
NOT DUNN YET: Senior infielder Jack Dunn has started every game since coming to Evanston, a 180-game streak ... He has reached base in 42 of his last 43 games ... He has a six-game hitting streak ... He has a hit in 17 of 20 games this season ... His .473 on-base percentage is second-best in the Big Ten.
