Wednesday's game is the third of five games over a 10-day span to open the season for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats (2-0) are coming off a 75-66 home win over Saint Peter's on Monday. Bryant McIntosh led five Northwestern players in double figures with 17 points while matching a career high with 7 rebounds. NU finished the contest with a 34-16 rebounding advantage. NU went 23-of-24 (.958) from the free throw line in Monday's win. It's the seventh-best single-game effort in school history (minimum 15 attempts) and the best with only one miss.
Scottie Lindsey lead the 'Cats in scoring through two contests with an average of 19.0 points per game. NU currently has four players averaging double-figure scoring.
Northwestern leads the all-time series with Creighton, 3-2. Creighton won the last meeting, 87-79, Dec. 22, 2011 in Omaha despite a 34-point effort from Drew Crawford. The Wildcats won the most recent matchup in Illinois, 65-52, Nov. 28, 2010 in Evanston with John Shurna leading the way with 23 points.
Wednesday's contest features two individuals who have been named to the 50-member watch lists for the Naismith Award and the Wooden Award, both of which honor the nation's top player. Senior guards Bryant McIntosh of Northwestern and Marcus Foster of Creighton both have earned the preseason recognition. They are preseason all-conference picks of the Big Ten and Big East, respectively.
