Mahjoob Named Big Ten Player to Watch

EVANSTON, Ill. - Cyrus Mahjoob has been named a Big Ten Player to Watch, the conference announced on Friday. The junior transfer from Georgia will continue his first season with the 'Cats this winter after a successful fall of competition.

In his first fall in Evanston, Mahjoob secured his first win as a 'Cat at the ITA All-American Championships in September, beating Nebraska's Leo Lopez Linquet (2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1)) in consolation play. The following month, he continued his fall at the ITA Midwest Regional, where he reached the round of 16. He picked up a pair of wins in the tournament, including a victory over conference foe Alexander Bernard (Ohio State) by a score of 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 32. 

Mahjoob is one of six new players on Head Coach Arvid Swan's roster for the 2025-26 season, joined by fellow transfers Dylan Charlap and Ethan Schiffman as well as first-years Cooper Han, Dylan Fayerman and Jacob Golden.

Mahjoob and the 'Cats will continue their 2025-26 campaigh with the first outing of their dual season next Saturday, Jan. 17, against Vanderbilt at Combe Tennis Center.
