EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern Wrestling (4-7, 2-6 Big Ten) raises the curtain on its 2024 postseason at home this weekend, set to host the 2025 Big Ten Wrestling Championships inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The tournament's first whistle will sound for Session I at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday morning, with Session II following at 5 p.m. CT later in the afternoon. Session III kicks off at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday ahead of Session IV, which will start at 4:30 p.m. CT.
Big Ten Network will provide coverage of Sessions I, II, and IV, while action from all four sessions can be accessed through B1G+.
Sam Cartella, Trevor Chumbley and Evan Bates enter the weekend as the top-seeded Wildcats.
Seeded seventh at 149 pounds, Cartella comes into the postseason with momentum. The redshirt first-year went 8-3 in dual action, including an upset victory over Illinois' then-No. 11 Kannon Webster in a 6-4 win by decision. Cartella looks to continue his success at his first career Big Ten Tournament appearance.
Chumbley enters the tournament hot after picking up seven straight victories to close out the regular season. Like Cartella, Chumbley dominated in dual action this season, winning seven out of eight bouts. Seeded seventh at 157 pounds, Chumbley will look for his third straight Big Ten Tournament podium finish.
The Wildcats' highest seed, Bates, enters the weekend as the six seed. After a season that saw him take down nine ranked opponents, including two in the Big Ten, Bates will search for back-to-back podium finishes at the Big Ten Tournament and back-to-back NCAA Tournament qualifications.
