
Wildcats Set to Face No. 9 Penn in NCAA Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinals

EVANSTON, Ill. -The Lake Show is set to take on No. 9 ranked Penn in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals this Thursday at Martin Stadium, with the game kicking off at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU with Mike Corey and Dana Boyle on the call.
The Wildcats (16-2, 5-1 B1G) boast an impressive home record, having not suffered a defeat in Evanston since 2020, racking up an extraordinary 44-game winning streak. This season, they clinched both their third Big Ten Conference regular season and tournament titles in the last four years under the leadership of head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller.

Northwestern recently secured a commanding 17-4 victory over Denver in the second round, after receiving the top overall seed and a first-round bye in the NCAA tournament.
In the quarterfinals, Northwestern faces the eighth-seeded Penn team. Penn, having finished third in the Ivy League, comes into the game after a narrow loss to Yale (10-9 in double overtime) in the Ivy League championship. In the NCAA tournament, Penn defeated Richmond and Loyola (MD) in their first two games. Northwestern holds a dominant 16-4 lead in the all-time series against Penn, with their most recent encounter resulting in a 17-9 win for the Wildcats in April 2022.
Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, with an impressive 32-0 record at home in NCAA postseason play throughout her 20-year career, has an overall NCAA Tournament record of 54-11 (.830). Izzy Scane was honored as the Big Ten Conference's Attacker of the Year, with Coach Amonte Hiller receiving Coach of the Year accolades as the Wildcats enter the NCAA tournament on a seven-game winning streak.
