Northwestern secures fourth top-three finish of 2023-24
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (April 9, 2024) – Ethan Tseng picked up his third top-five finish of the season, while Cameron Adam battled to secure a spot in the top 15 as the Northwestern University men's golf team earned a share of third place this week at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Charlottesville, Va.

Paced by strong showings from the aforementioned duo, the Wildcats closed their stay at the Birdwood Golf Course (par 71; 7,116 yards) with an 853 (287-283-283) that featured back-to-back one-under-par rounds of 283 to finish the event. Northwestern finished alongside North Florida (279-290-284) and Arkansas (284-285-284). Tennessee (276-269-280=825) laid claim to the team championship, while Luke Clanton of Florida State finished with a 15-under-par 198 (68-66-64) to win the individual crown.
Making his second appearance of the spring, Tseng dazzled across 54 holes of play. After carding an even-par 71 during first-round play, the Portland, Ore. native caught fire in Monday's second round, playing bogey-free golf en route to a six-under-par 65, highlighted by an eagle on the par-five second hole. Tseng added another eagle on Tuesday, posting a one-under-par 70 that saw him wrap up his week with a seven-under-par 206 (71-65-70), ultimately tying for third.
Adam successfully lowered his score throughout each round of play en route to earning a share of 15th place. The Edinburgh, Scotland product capped off play with a final-round one-under-par 70 to finish with an even-par 213 (72-71-70). Adam racked up a team-best 14 birdies for the week, a mark that tied for fifth in the category among the 78-player field.
Daniel Svärd put together the top final-round effort by a Wildcat, carding a two-under-par 69, his ninth round in the 60s this season, to finish tied for 47th at 220 (78-73-69). Niall Shiels-Donegan, who competed as an individual at the event, checked in a stroke back of Svärd with a 221 (75-74-72) that saw him share 51st.
James Imai turned in an opening-round two-over-par 73 on his way tying for 63rd at 225 (73-78-74), while Akshay Anand closed play as part of a tie for 66th with 226 (71-74-81), a tally that included a first-round even-par 71.
