EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern will host the Penn State Lady Lions on Thursday evening on Pride Night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Action between the two teams will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
Thursday's meeting will be the second of two between the teams this season. The Wildcats last met the Lady Lions in University Park on Jan. 2, where they fell 55-95. Despite the last loss, the 'Cats have won five of the last eight matchups between the two teams and are looking to notch their third conference win of the season.
Last time out at Michigan State, the 'Cats saw three players put up double digits; the two leaders, Melannie Daley and Hailey Weaver, came off the bench for a combined 33 points. Daley's 18 led the team - the seventh time this season she's finished as Northwestern's leading scorer. For Weaver, the 15 points were her most since Nov. 29. Over half of her points came from deep, as she tied her career high with three three-point makes.
Maggie Pina also made an impact with nine points in her first start as a Wildcat. After leading the 'Cats with 11 points on three made threes against Illinois, Pina has made at least one three-pointer in five of her last six games.
Following the action at home, the 'Cats will head to Bloomington to take on Indiana at 1 p.m. CT this Sunday. That game will be streamed on B1G+.
