No. 13 Northwestern Hosts Ohio State in Big Ten Home Opener

EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 13 Northwestern hosts Ohio State in its Big Ten home opener on Sunday at Martin Stadium. Kickoff from Evanston is set for 1 p.m. CT on BTN.
Last time out, the 'Cats earned a point in a 2-2 draw at Wisconsin. Ugo Achara Jr. tallied his second goal in as many games in the 54th minute and Ibrahim Obeid added on in the 71st minute to give NU a 2-0 lead. Wisconsin scored in the 75th minute and again in the 87th minute to force the draw.
The Wildcats are unbeaten through eight games for the first time since 2012, when they also started 6-0-2.
Northwestern earned a No. 13 ranking in the September 19th United Soccer Coaches Poll, its highest ranking since Oct. 1, 2013 (No. 5).
Justin Weiss leads the Big Ten in Shots (27), Shots on Goal (13), Goals (6), Assists (4), and Points (16). The Syosset, N.Y. native ranks third nationally in Points (16) and 11th nationally in Goals (6).
Nigel Prince has logged 714 of 720 possible minutes this season.
Sunday's meeting will be the 43rd all-time meeting between Northwestern and Ohio State. OSU leads the all-time series 23-13-6. Ohio State took last season's meeting in Columbus 2-1.
The Buckeyes enter Sunday's contest with a 2-3-2 overall record and an 0-1 record in league play. Most recently, OSU took down Kentucky 3-0 on Tuesday night. Luciano Pechota leads the Buckeyes with two goals on the 2023 campaign. Max Trejo handles the bulk of goalkeeping duties for Ohio State, allowing just 0.68 goals per game.
Northwestern continues Big Ten play on Friday, September 29 when it travels to Maryland. Kickoff from College Park is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on B1G+.
