Wildcats Look to Stay Hot against Flames

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will put its 4-0-1 record on the line at Martin Stadium on Monday night against UIC at 7 p.m. CT on B1G+.
Last time out, the 'Cats took down Northern Illinois in a 2-1 thriller. Rom Brown scored the game's first goal in the 13th minute, skying to head home a corner kick. NIU equalized in the 17th minute, levelling the game at one apiece. The 1-1 deadlock held for the majority of the game, until Brown tallied with just 14 seconds remaining in the game to give the 'Cats a 2-1 win.
Brown's two goals against NIU marked his first career brace. The Hod Hasharon, Israel native leads all Big Ten players with three goals, two game-winning goals, and six points on the 2023 campaign.
Justin Weiss has tallied six points so far in 2023, notching two goals and two assists, including the 90th minute game-winnning goal against St. Thomas and an assist on Brown's 90th minute game-winning goal against NIU. Weiss ranks in the Top 10 in the Big Ten in the following categories: shots (2nd, 17), shots on goal (T-1st, 8), goals (T-2nd, 2), game-winning goals (T-4th, 1), assists (T-3rd, 2) and points (T-1st, 6).
Monday night's meeting will be the 27th all-time meeting between UIC and Northwestern. The Flames lead the series 14-10-2. The two sides met most recently in Head Coach Russell Payne's second game at Northwestern, a scoreless draw for Payne's first result in purple and white.
UIC enters Monday's tilt with a 4-0-1 record, having defeated common opponents NJIT and St. Thomas, along with Wisconsin and Loyola.
Sidney Warden paces the Flames offensively, having tallied three goals and an assist so far in 2023.
