EVANSTON, Ill. – Ranked in the Top 25 by the Associated Press in the latest poll (Dec. 11) and for the second time in the last two seasons, No. 25 Northwestern plays its first true road game of the season by taking on DePaul for the 37th time in series history at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, December 16. The contest will air on FS1 with Jeff Levering (play-by-play) and LaVall Jordan (analyst) on the call, while Dave Eanet (play-by-play) and Billy McKinney (analyst) have the radio call on WGN Radio 720 and SiriusXM Channel 390.

Last time out, the Wildcats (7-2) dropped their first home game of the season 75-73 to Chicago State. Boo Buie posted 23 points, eight assists, and six rebounds and moved into fifth place all-time in the Northwestern record book with 1,711 career points. Buie enters Saturday's tilt needing seven assists to reach 500 for his career.

Against the Cougars, Ryan Langborg scored 18 points on 5-of-6 shooting from deep. Langborg is shooting 68% (15-of-22) from behind the arc in his last five games. The San Diego native joins Vic Law (Nov. 11-22, 2016 and Dec. 3-19, 2017) and John Shurna (Nov. 28-Dec. 21, 2010) as the only Wildcats to shoot over 65 % from three (min. 20 attempts) in a five-game stretch since 2010-11.

Northwestern is seeking its first road win as a ranked team since Jan. 4, 1969, when the No. 19 Wildcats defeated Michigan State 85-71 inside Jenison Field House.

NU has been one of the best teams in the country at taking care of the ball this season, leading the Big Ten and ranking third nationally, committing just 8.6 turnovers per game. The 'Cats force an average of 15.0 turnovers per game, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten.

Northwestern's 8.9 steals per game leads the Big Ten. Brooks Barnhizer (2.0, 2nd), Ty Berry (1.7, 6th), and Boo Buie (1.4,12th) all rank among the Big Ten's leaders.

After an expanded role last season, Brooks Barnhizer has gotten off to a hot start in 2023-24. In his first season starting for the Wildcats, Barnhizer is one of only two players in the country averaging 14.0-plus points, 7.8-plus rebounds, and 2.0-plus steals per game, along with Tulane's Kevin Cross.

While DePaul leads the all-time series 21-15, the Wildcats have won five of the last six meetings, including an 83-45 victory in Evanston last season. Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins is 5-2 against the Blue Demons during his time in Evanston.

DePaul (2-7) enters Saturday's game fresh off a 75-68 win over Louisville in which Jeremiah Oden posted 22 points to lead the Blue Demons. Chico Carter Jr. paces DePaul offensively, averaging 14.3 points and 4.8 assists per game.

Northwestern will continue non-conference play when it travels to Phoenix to take on Arizona State at 5:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Dec. 20 inside Footprint Center. The game will air on ESPN2 and WGN Radio 720.
