EVANSTON, Ill. – TheΒ Northwestern men's basketball team will wrap up its season-opening homestandΒ with a 7 p.m. CT tip on Tuesday, Nov. 14 againstΒ Western MichiganΒ inside Welsh-Ryan Arena. Last time out, the Wildcats downed Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorite Dayton 71-66 in a back-and-forth affair at Welsh-Ryan Arena, marking a 2-0Β start for the fourth-consecutive season and the ninth time overall during Sullivan-Ubben Head CoachΒ Chris Collins' tenure.

In his second game wearing a Northwestern uniform, Princeton transfer Ryan Langborg paced all scorers with 19 points. Langborg'sΒ 32 points in his first two games with the Wildcats are the most through two games by a Northwestern transfer sinceΒ Chase AudigeΒ recorded 36 across his first two games in 2020.

Brooks Barnhizer posted 13 points while hauling in 10 rebounds, securing his second-consecutiveΒ double-double in his second career start. Barnhizer became the first Wildcat to record a double-double in consecutiveΒ games since Vic Law in 2018-19.

With a team-leading four assists,Β Boo BuieΒ (453) moved into sole possession of third place all-time in career assists for Northwestern, passing Patrick Baldwin (452). Buie added 15 points,Β marking his seventh straight game scoring in double digits dating back to last season.

Northwestern forced 15 Dayton turnovers, turning those into 13 points on the other end of the floor. The Wildcat defense was led by Nick Martinelli, who notched a career-high four steals against the Flyers.

Tuesday's meeting will be the 29th all-time between the 'Cats and Broncos, with NU holding a 23-5 edge in the series. Dating back to 1956, the Wildcats have won 13 straight in the series, their second-longest active win streak against an opponent. Northwestern has won 15 straight games against Chicago State.

Western Michigan enters Tuesday's contest 0-2, dropping a pair of tightly contested contests over the first week of the season. The Broncos fell 80-76 to North Dakota State in overtime before dropping a 77-70 decision to Georgia State as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Conference Challenge.Β

Northwestern will head to the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. for its MTE this season.
