'Cats Set for Two Weekend Duals

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern is set for two duals this weekend, heading to East Lansing for a matchup with No. 14 Michigan St. on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, then hosting Northern Illinois on Sunday at noon. Sunday's dual will be held at Treinen's Performance Center while women's basketball takes on Michigan concurrently at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Fans who buy a ticket will gain entrance to both events.
 
This is the 25th matchup between Northwestern and Michigan St. in the two programs' histories, with the 'Cats leading the all-time series 13-11.
 
Northwestern is 15-6-1 all-time against Northern Illinois, with their last matchup coming on Feb. 8, 2013.
 
The Wildcats are riding a two-game win streak after wins over No. 23 Illinois and Maryland.
 
The 'Cats won eight of the 10 individual matchups in last Sunday's dual with Maryland, leading to a 29-7 victory. 
 
No. 13 Michael DeAugustino picked up a 19-4 tech fall win at 125 lbs., moving to 5-1 on the season. It is DeAugustino's second career win by tech fall and first against a Big Ten opponent.
 
At 133 lbs., Chris Cannon moved up to #8 in Intermat.com's rankings after a 6-0 decision over King Sandoval. Cannon is now 11-2 on the season. Frankie Tal-Shahar followed Cannon with a 6-0 decision win of his own at 141 lbs. to improve to 6-6 this season.
 
No. 11 Yahya Thomas improved to 9-4 on the season with a 10-4 decision win at 149 lbs. against Michael North. Wrestling for Ryan Deakin at 157 lbs., Trevor Chumbley earned a 11-2 major decision win, his second of the season, to improve to 6-3 this year. David Ferrante also earned a 7-1 decision win at 165 lbs. to move to 7-6 this season.
 
Andrew Davison improved to No. 29 in the 197 lbs. rankings after defeating No. 28 Jaron Smith of Maryland by 4-1 decision. Lucas Davison continues to dominate the heavyweight division with a 22-7 tech fall at 7:00, his second tech fall of the year. Davison sits at No. 10 in the heavyweight rankings.
