DURHAM, N.C. – Northwestern hits the road for the first time in nearly a month as they prepare to take on the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Thursday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Wildcats (4-2) will play in their 12th Challenge on Thursday, carrying with them a 5-6 record and three straight victories dating back to 2014. Though they've faced off with Duke twice before, this will be the two teams' first time meeting in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Northwestern enters the contest coming off a 4-1 stretch of non-conference action at Welsh-Ryan Arena. They outscored opponents 362-301 during that span and saw five players score in double digits at least once.
Sydney Wood had especially strong showings during the home stand, tying her career high with 19 points against both Niagara and Valparaiso. She's averaging 11.5 points per game, which is second on the team. Courtney Shaw also fared well and collected double-doubles in both of her last two games. She'll enter play on Thursday leading the Big Ten in offensive rebounds per game, with 4.4.
The 'Cats will face a Duke squad that has gone 6-1 in their own non-conference schedule, with their only defeat coming at the hands of No. 3 Connecticut. Northwestern has the edge in the all-time series, however, having won both of the previous two matchups.
After leaving Durham, the Wildcats will take to Ann Arbor to kick off their Big Ten slate on the road against Michigan. The two teams will tip-off at Crisler Center on Sunday at 1 p.m. CST.
