Bader Shines as Wildcats Down Nebraska

The 'Cats were led on the mound by Ryan Bader who delivered an outstanding performance. The sophomore lasted seven full innings and picked up four strikeouts, allowing just four hits as he earned his second win of the season.
Senior Nick Paciorek entered in relief and picked up where Bader left off. Despite a late rally from the Cornhuskers, Paciorek finished off the game, lasting two innings and striking out four in the appearance.
Northwestern improved to 20-22 on the season and 7-9 in conference play. Nebraska fell to 12-7 in the Big Ten and 23-17 overall.
The offense backed up Bader behind the clutch hitting of Jack Dunn. Dunn went 2-for-4 on the day, picking up two RBI and a run.
The senior shortstop struck first with a single up the middle to score Michael Trautwein and give the Wildcats the lead in the third.
Dunn found himself in an almost identical situation in the fifth, after a Casey O'Laughlin double. He came through again with two outs for another RBI single up the middle. Alex Erro followed him up with an RBI double to left-center to put the 'Cats up by three.
Jack Kelly joined in on the fun with a solo homer to right-center in the seventh. The blast was the catcher's third home-run of the season.
Northwestern is set to play game two against Nebraska on Sunday at 1:00 PM CT, as they look to extend their win streak to four.
