EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern volleyball fell to Big Ten opponent No. 4 Illinois, 3-0, on Wednesday night at the new Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The Wildcats hit the court again on Saturday when they travel to University Park for another Big Ten rematch. They will face No. 7 Penn State at 6 p.m. CT.

ILLINOIS 3, NORTHWESTERN 0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-14)

TEAM NOTES:

Northwestern compiled 18 kills, 18 digs, and 4.0 total blocks.
The 'Cats totaled two service aces, going their tenth straight game with multiple service aces

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

Abryanna Cannon led the team with 6 kills.
Britt Bommer contributed a team-high 15 assists.
Lexi Pitsas, Bommer and Cannon each tied for a team-high four digs for the 'Cats.
With her second kill of the game, first-year Ella Grbac tallied her 200th kill of the season.
Michelle Lee recorded her 22nd service ace of the season, leading the team ... Olivia Viscuso also contributed one ace.

MATCH NOTES:

S1 | The 'Cats kept pace with the Illini for a 12 point back-and-forth, before Illinois pulled ahead to take the set 25-16.
S2 | Northwestern struggled to gain traction, dropping the second set 25-11.
S3 | Illinois closed out the match with a 25-14 win.
