Northwestern Drops Big Ten Lidlifter to Ohio State, 1-0

EVANSTON, Ill. — First-year goalkeeper Miha Miskovic made a career-high five saves, but Ohio State pulled out a 1-0 victory Friday night in the Big Ten lidlifter.
Northwestern falls to 1-4-0 on the campaign and 0-1-0 in league action, while the Buckeyes improve to 4-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Big Ten play.
Ohio State got on the board early on Friday night. In the sixth minute, Abdi Mohamed played a corner kick to Hunter Robertson 30 yards out from net, and Robertson hit a one-time volley to the far post that found the goal.
The Wildcats had chances in the first half, tallying four shots to the Buckeyes' five, but OSU was able to take the 1-0 lead into the break.
Northwestern's best chance for an equalizer came in the 48th minute when senior Elo Ozumba hit a rocket on a loose ball in the box that found the post. Ozumba had a team-high three shots in the contest.
Miskovic kept the Wildcats in the contest Friday night. In only his second-career start, Miskovic made a pair of saves in the first half and then three in the second, including back-to-back shots on net in the 67th minute.
Northwestern will continue Big Ten play when it travels to Madison, Wis., on Sept. 13 for an 8 p.m. CT showdown with the Badgers. The action will be televised on Big Ten Network.
