Northwestern Hosts Ohio State to Open Big Ten Play

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern opens the Big Ten regular season Friday, Sept. 8, when it welcomes Ohio State to Martin Stadium for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff.
 
HEROES DAY
Friday at Martin Stadium is Heroes Day. All military personnel and first responders (former and current) will receive free admission. Please email Andrew.Frey@Northwestern.edu to reserve free admission in advance.
 
The Big Ten battle will be stream on BTN Plus/BTN2GO.
 
Northwestern (1-3-0) returns to Martin Stadium after a three-game road swing. Last time out in Evanston, the 'Cats defeated Valparaiso (Aug. 25) in overtime, 2-1, behind goals from Mac Mazzola and Ty Seager.
 
Ohio State enters conference play with a 3-1-0 overall record after home shutouts over Pittsburgh (Aug. 25), FIU (Aug. 27) and Wright State (Sept. 4). Friday's match will be the Buckeyes' first road trip of the season.
 
Ohio State swept the last Big Ten weekly awards as first year Joshua Jackson-Ketchup took home Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore goalkeeper Parker Siegfried earned Defensive Player of the Week. Jackson-Ketchup scored three goals in two games and Siegfried made five saves in two shutouts.
 
The Buckeyes finished 5-13-1 overall last season and took seventh in the final Big Ten standings. They were picked to finish seventh in the 2017 Big Ten Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
Northwesten fell, 1-0, to the Buckeyes on the road in Columbus in the programs' last meeting in 2016. NU holds a 11-19-3 record in the all-time series between both programs.
 
 Head coach Tim Lenahan is 7-7-2 in his career against Ohio State since 2001.
 
True freshman Miha Miskovic made his first-career start last weekend against No. 8 Syracuse. Junior Jake Roberge scored his first goal of the season against the Orange off of an assist from Camden Buescher.
