
'Cats Head to Central New York Classic

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern men's soccer teams travels to participate in the Central New York Classic this weekend for a two-game road swing against Colgate on Friday, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m. CT and No. 8 Syracuse on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. CT.
Northwestern holds a 1-1 overall record after winning its season opener, 2-1, over Valpaaraiso in overtime at Martin Stadium on Aug. 25 and dropping a 2-0 decision at UMKC on the road on Sunday, Aug. 27. Sophomores Mac Mazzola and Ty Seager both earned their first career goals in the win over Valparaiso.
Colgate is still searching for its first win of 2017 after losing 1-0 at New Hampshire and 2-1 at home to Binghamton to open its 2017 slate. The Raiders are coming off their sixth Patriot League Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016.
The Wildcats are 1-0-2 all time against Colgate and 1-0-1 under head coach Tim Lenahan. The two sides played to a 1-1 stalemate in the 2015 season opener.
The 4 p.m. CT kickoff will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
Syracuse is a perfect 2-0 heading into this weekend with a pair of 2-1 victories over Saint Louis (Aug. 25) and SIUE (Aug. 27). The Orange will face Princeton on Friday before hosting the 'Cats.
Last season, Syracuse finished 12-4-4 and was seeded eighth in the NCAA Tournament before losing 1-0 in the Round of 16 to eventual semifinalists North Carolina.
Sophomore Mo Adams was named to the preseason Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List for 'Cuse. He made the All-ACC Third Team and the All-ACC All-Freshman Team last year.
Sunday's clash between the Purple and White and the Orange will be the first in program history. The 6 p.m. CT kickoff will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
