EVANSTON, Ill. -- Spring break week for the Northwestern women's tennis team won't be a vacation as the Wildcats play three matches beginning with a contest at sixth-ranked Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. Central time Wednesday.
Northwestern (5-7) then returns home to resume Big Ten play against Maryland and Rutgers on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches start at 11 a.m.
Ranked No. 47, the 'Cats are looking to get back on track after suffering three straight losses to top-25 teams on the road.
Saturday's match opens a stretch of 10 straight contests against Big Ten Conference foes to conclude the regular season.
The Wildcats are led in singles play by Maddie Lipp who is ranked No. 114 in the nation this week. In doubles, the duo of Lipp and Alex Chatt are ranked 10th while Lipp and Rheeya Doshi are 74th when paired with one another and the team of Brooke Rischbieth and Erin Larner are No. 78.
Georgia Tech bring a 14-2 record, including a 9-0 home mark into Wednesday's matchup. The Yellow Jackets have three players ranked nationally in singles this week: Rasheeda McAdoo (No. 46), Johnnise Renaud (No. 104) and Paige Hourigan (No. 113). In doubles, the team of McAdoo and Renaud ranks 19th.
No. 33 Maryland takes a 10-1 overall mark into its match at Liberty on Wednesday prior to traveling to Evanston, while Rutgers is 5-6 going into its match at Illinois on Saturday.
