EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern's women's tennis team returns home to Combe Tennis Center for the first time in a month when it hosts seventh-ranked Texas Tech at 11 a.m. Sunday.
The Wildcats (5-6) have been off from competition since suffering a pair of 5-2 losses in Seattle, Washington, to then-No. 11 Oklahoma State and then-No. 25 Washington.
As is the norm, Northwestern is continuing to challenge itself by playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. Texas Tech represents the Wildcats' sixth opponent already this season to be ranked in the top 25, including the fifth ranked in the top 11.
Following Northwestern's next match at Georgia Tech on Wednesday, the Wildcats will play their final 10 matches of the season against Big Ten foes beginning with a pair of home contests against Maryland and Rutgers next Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Northwestern is led by the doubles team of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp who are ranked ninth nationally while Erin Larner and Brooke Rischbieth are No. 60 when teaming up. In singles action, Lee Or is ranked No. 111.
Texas Tech has two doubles teams ranked: No. 24 Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici; No. 48 Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby. Talaba is ranked No. 17 in singles, Maltby is No. 40 and Alex Valenstein is No. 109.
NU and Texas Tech have only met once previously on March 25 of last season in Lubbock when the Red Raiders recorded a 4-0 win.
