EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern goes in search of a Big Ten tournament title this weekend when it travels to Michigan State University for the semifinal round and potential championship match.

The fourth-seeded Wildcats take on top-seeded Michigan at 10 a.m. Central time Friday. The contest is being televised live by Big Ten Network.

The winner of the match advances to Sunday's title match where it will take on the victor of Friday's second semifinal match between Penn State and Maryland. Sunday's championship match is slated for 11 a.m. Central.

NU (14-5, 6-2 B1G) is seeking its second Big Ten tournament title in school history. The Wildcats won the championship in 2014 in Ann Arbor.

Northwestern advanced to the semifinals by rallying past Rutgers for a 4-3 win Sunday in Evanston. Puck Pentenga scored the tying goal with 3:35 left in regulation before Pascale Massey tallied the game-winner with 1:49 remaining.

The 'Cats were narrowly edged by Michigan in the regular-season meeting between the teams, 1-0, Oct. 20 in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines notched the lone goal off a penalty corner with just over nine minutes remaining in the second half.

Northwestern had three individuals earn All-Big Ten recognition this week as Sophia Miller and Pentenga were named to the first team while Massey was selected to the second team. It was the second consecutive first-team selection for Miller who was a unanimous choice this season. Pentenga and Massey were named All-Big Ten for the first time.

NU is No. 8 in this week's RPI and stands an excellent chance of earning an NCAA tournament berth when the field is announced at 9 p.m. Central time Sunday. The winner of the Big Ten tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Michigan (17-2) went undefeated through the Big Ten regular season. The Wolverines are led by Big Ten Player of the Year Katie Trombetta, Defensive Player of the Year Sam Swenson and Coach of the Year Marcia Pankratz.
