Northwestern Travels to DePaul Wednesday for Chicago Derby

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern men's soccer returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 11, when it makes the short trek for a Chicago Derby at DePaul. Kick is set for 3 p.m. CT at Wish Field.
Northwestern (3-9-0) enters the contest against the Blue Demons fresh off a 3-2 win over Western Illinois on Monday. Junior Camden Buescher led the way with four points on two assists and a goal. First year Drew Viscomi and senior Elo Ozumba each found the back of the net in the first half to propel Northwestern to its third straight home win over a nonconference opponent.
Goalkeeper Robbie White made six saves in the effort.
Nine different Wildcats have tallied goals on the campaign, including five underclassmen. Sophomore Sean Lynch and Buescher pace the club with six points. Lynch has a team-best two goals to go along with a pair of assists, while Buescher leads the team with four assists in addition to his one goal.
DePaul (4-6-1) dropped a 2-1 decision at Seton Hall last time out. On the offensive end, Philipp Konigstein owns a team-best 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists), while Istvan Wilhelms boasts 11 points on three goals and four assists.
Senior captain Quentin Low continues to be the mainstay in net, making 37 saves in 1020 minutes of action while allowing 15 goals in 11 matches to post a 1.33 goals against average.
DePaul took a 2-1 victory over the 'Cats last season at Martin Stadium. The Blue Demons received goals from Simon Megally and Zach El-Shafei, while Nathan Dearth scored a goal off a corner kick in the 78th minute to put NU on the board. Northwestern won, 2-1, the last time it visited Wish Field during the 2015 campaign.
Northwestern associate head coach Joe Ahearn is a 2000 graduate of DePaul. He played in 67 games during his career for the Blue Demons and was a Conference USA all-league selection in 1999.
