EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 25 Northwestern travels to Durham, North Carolina, for ITA Kick-off Weekend, a regional qualifier for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Duke University is serving as the host for three other schools. The Wildcats take on Tulsa at 9 a.m. Central time Saturday while host and 10th-ranked Duke faces William & Mary in the second match of the day.
Saturday's winners square off at 1 p.m. CT Sunday with a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on the line. Saturday's losing teams face off in the first match of the day Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
Northwestern brings a 3-0 dual match record this season into play this weekend. The Wildcats posted 7-0 wins over Akron and Chicago State Jan. 14 before defeating Harvard 6-1 last Saturday.
The Wildcats are paced by the doubles team of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp as the duo is ranked No. 6 in the nation. Also ranked for NU is the team of Erin Larner and Lee Or who are ranked 24th. Lipp also is ranked in singles, coming in at No. 104. As a team, Northwestern is ranked in the top 25 this week for the first time this season after receiving votes in the first two ITA rankings.
Tulsa is listed as receiving votes in this week's ITA poll after posting victories in each of their four dual matches of the season to date. The Golden Hurricane has not dropped a singles match in any of its four matches. Tulsa does not currently have any singles players or doubles teams nationally ranked by the ITA.
