No. 25 Northwestern Outlasts Tulsa, 4-3

DURHAM, N.C. -- No. 25 Northwestern held off Tulsa for 4-3 win to advance to Sunday's regional round championship match as part of ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
The Wildcats (4-0) will take on host and 10th-ranked Duke on Sunday. The Blue Devils were a 4-0 winner over William & Mary in Saturday's second match.
Tulsa (4-1) got off on the right foot by claiming the doubles point. At No. 1, Northwestern's sixth-ranked duo of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp rolled to a 6-1 win over Knesia Laskutova and Martina Okalova. The Golden Hurricane got an upset win at No. 2 where the Wildcats' 24th-ranked team of Erin Larner and Lee Or were defeated, and then 6-3 win at No. 3 to give Tulsa the early 1-0 lead.
Northwestern bounced back in singles play, however. Rheeya Doshi got the 'Cats on the board with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 and Alex Chatt followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5, giving NU a 2-1 advantage in the match.
Larner closed the Wildcats to within a point of victory when she finished off a 6-1, 6-3 win, but Tulsa got straight-set wins at Nos. 2 and 6 to even the match.
Or was the hero for Northwestern, though, as she outlasted Okalova for a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 victory at No. 4, allowing the Wildcats to advance to Sunday's championship match at 1 p.m. Central time.
