Nebraska Notes

NEBRASKA OFF TO HOT START
The Cornhuskers are off to a 3-0 start and averaging 43.3 points per game with victories over Fresno State, Wyoming and No. 22 Oregon last week at Memorial Stadium. Saturday will be Nebraska's first road game of the season.

PLAYER TO WATCH
Fourth-year starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong, Jr., has accounted for 11 touchdowns (7 passing, 4 rushing) in the first three games of the season while completing 54.5 percent of his passes for 685 yards. Armstrong is the active FBS leader in touchdowns with 76.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Clayton Thorson rushed for 126 yards and former Wildcat Dean Lowry tallied 10 tackles, including six for loss, as Northwestern defeated the Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium, 30-28. Thorson hit Dan Vitale on a 37-yard touchdown strike with 9:53 to go in the game to ultimately give the Wildcats the lead for good, but it was the defense that sealed the victory as they stopped Nebraska on a two-point attempt with just over four minutes to go.
