EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern makes the short trek to United Center on Saturday to take on Dayton as part of State Farm Chicago Legends. Tip time is set for 6 p.m. and precedes a contest between Illinois and BYU.

NU is playing just its second regular-season game at United Center and its first in 14 seasons since dropping a 73-61 decision to No. 20 Illinois on Feb. 22, 2003. The Wildcats also have played 11 Big Ten tournament contests at United Center.

The Wildcats (8-2) are coming off a narrow 68-64 home win over Chicago State on Wednesday. Vic Law led NU with 18 points while Bryant McIntosh posted 14 points and 7 assists. Northwestern shot 62.5 percent from the field in the second half to overcome 13 three-pointers by Chicago State.

NU has won its last 15 games in the month of December. The 'Cats won their last four December games in 2014 before going 8-0 in the month last year and 3-0 so far this year.

Northwestern trails its all-time series with Dayton, 2-1. The Wildcats won the most recent meeting, 61-57, Dec. 5, 1998 in Evanston.

Northwestern isn't far from a perfect start to its season. The Wildcats' only two losses to date have been by a combined six points to a pair of teams that are currently ranked. The 'Cats fell on a buzzer-beater, 70-68, at No. 18 Butler and lost 70-66 to No. 21 Notre Dame on a neutral court in Brooklyn in the championship game of the Legends Classic.

After ranking sixth nationally with a 1.59 assist-to-turnover ratio during the 2015-16 campaign, Northwestern has picked up where it left off. The Wildcats sport a 1.72 ratio (186 assists, 108 turnovers) so far this season ranking them first in the Big Ten and eighth in the nation. NU's average of only 10.8 turnovers per game has helped it rank atop the league with a +3.0 turnover margin.

The 'Cats also rank eighth nationally with an average of 6.6 blocked shots per contest.

Scouting Dayton
The Flyers (7-2) have won their last five contests since an 80-78 loss to Nebraska on Nov. 24. Dayton is coming off a 75-61 win over East Tennessee State Dec. 10 behind 24 points from Charles Cooke. A preseason first-team All-Atlantic 10 pick, Cooke leads the team with an average of 20.0 points. Chicago native Kendall Pollard recently returned from injury and contributes 12.7 points and a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game.
