
'Cats Trek to Stillwater for ITA Kickoff Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's 26th-ranked women's tennis team ventures on the road as it head to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Oklahoma State is serving as one of 15 host sites for the qualifying rounds of the ITA Team Indoor Championships which will be held Feb. 5-8. The winners of this weekend's qualifying rounds advance to the Championships in Madison, Wisconsin.
Northwestern is a two-time winner of the ITA Team Indoor Championships, bringing home back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
The Wildcats are the second-seeded team in Stillwater this weekend and they'll open play by taking on third-seeded and 27th-ranked Arizona State at 10 a.m. Saturday. The match precedes the second contest of the day between top-seeded and 11th-ranked Oklahoma State and fourth-seeded and 32nd-ranked Notre Dame.

The winners of Saturday's matches meet up at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with a trip to Madison on the line. The losers of Saturday's matchups will square off at 10 a.m.
Northwestern returned to action in style last weekend by posting solid performances in its own Wildcat Duals. The Wildcats faced opponents from Alabama, TCU and DePaul and won the majority of singles and doubles matches against each of the foes.
Redshirt sophomore Maddie Lipp was recognized as the Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance over the weekend. She went 2-0 in both singles in doubles action. Ranked No. 61 in the country in singles, Lipp notched a victory on Friday over 41st-ranked Andie Daniell of Alabama. Lipp also went undefeated with doubles partner Alex Chatt. The nation's seventh-ranked duo cruised past Alabama's Erin Routliffe and Dani Spielmann 6-1 on Friday and followed up the performance with a 6-3 win over TCU's Marie Norris and Alexis Pereira on Saturday.
