Wildcats Fall to #19 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – Symone Abbott had a team high 10 kills and Maddie Slater led all players with a .636 hitting percentage, but Northwestern (10-5, 2-2) dropped a match in straight sets at No. 19 Wisconsin on Sunday.
Taylor Tashima averaged over 10 assists per set, and Caroline Niedospial once again tallied more than five digs per game to maintain her lead among all Big Ten liberos.
Freshman Rachael Fara totaled five kills, an assist and three digs in her second career start for the Wildcats.
Wisconsin maintained a lead through much of the match. Northwestern mounted several comeback attempts, especially in the first and third sets, bringing each to within four points, but the Badgers proved too much on Sunday afternoon.
Northwestern will welcome a pair of ranked conference foes to Welsh-Ryan Arena next weekend. No. 13 Ohio State comes to Evanston on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then No. 1 Penn State meets the Wildcats at 7 p.m. Saturday.
