WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Sophomore Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) recorded the first top-10 finish of her career Sunday, and did it when it mattered the most. Lindenschmidt shot a 4-over 76 over the final 18 holes of the Big Ten Championships, finishing the 72-hole tournament with a 24-over 312 (80-78-78-76) and in sole possession of 10th place. She helped spark the Wildcats in the final round, as NU shoots a 17-over 305, its best round of the Championships, to place fourth at 106-over 1258 (327-312-314-305).

Lindenschmidt, who began the day in a tie for 11th place overall, used a pair of birdies over the first nine holes to sit at even par at the turn. She led the 'Cats with four birdies on the weekend, one better than freshman Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central). Lederhausen posted her second-straight top-20 finish and the third of her career, shooting a 30-over 318 (83-82-74-79) to finish in a tie for 15th.

Sophomore Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) came on strong over the final 18 holes as well, posting a 1-over 73 on the afternoon - the lowest round total for the Wildcats all weekend. Tantanavivat posted her fourth top-20 finish of the season, closing out the weekend in a tie for 20th-place at 32-over 320 (84-79-84-73). She beat out freshman teammate Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) by one shot, as Fuller completed her first Big Ten Championships at 33-over 321 (80-79-82-80) and just missed cracking the top-20.

Senior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) closed out her Wildcat regular season with a 36-over 324 (87-76-80-81), three shots better than sophomore Rebecca Lederhausen's (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) 39-over 327 (86-81-83-77).

The Wildcats continued their consistent play under first year head coach Emily Fletcher, notching their second-straight fourth-place finish. Northwestern closes out the regular season portion of its 2008-09 schedule having finished in the top-10 in 10 of 11 tournaments this season, including the pair of top-five finishes.

11th-ranked Purdue ran away with its second-straight Big Ten Championship, finishing at 57-over 1209 on its home course and defeating second-place Michigan State (94-over 1246) by a whopping 37 shots. Ohio State (103-over 1255) edged out the Wildcats by three strokes for third place, while Iowa (112-over 1264) was six shots behind Northwestern to round out the top five.
