EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern had its two-game winning streak snapped as the Wildcats fell to Iowa 2-0 Sunday at the Leonard B. Thomas Sports Complex.

The 'Cats came into the match with back-to-back wins over Indiana and California, but were unable to pick up their third consecutive win.

Iowa, which improves to 11-5 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten, beat NU 1-0 in a nonconference match earlier this season.

After playing an evenly matched first half, the Hawkeyes came out and and controlled the play in the second half. Margot McMahon put Iowa on the board at 42:40 when she beat NU goalkeeper Sherri-Anne Nyberg to make the score 1-0.

Pattie Gillern added the second Hawkeye goal less than seven minutes later, scoring at 49:08, giving Iowa the 2-0 cushion.

Nyberg played well in goal for Northwestern and stopped seven Iowa shots.

NU falls to 7-8 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. They will be back in action on Oct. 31 when they take on Saint Louis at the LBT Sports Complex.
