EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcats put on a hitting display, led by Iwona Lodzik (Tarnobrzeg, Poland/Tarnobrzeg) and her game-high 16 kills, in their 30-24, 30-20, 30-26 victory over Indiana at Welsh-Ryan Arena Friday night.

Northwestern out-hit the Hoosiers 54-40 en route to snapping a three-game losing streak and improving to 12-9 overall, 3-6 in the Big Ten.

"The win tonight was all about an attitude change," said head coach Keylor Chan. "We knew we had to play at another level to be contenders."

In the first game, Lodzik paced the team with five kills, followed by Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and her four kills. But Leah Delcourt (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island), who up to this point averaged only 1.21 kills per game, stepped up with four kills (.600 attack percent) to really give the Wildcats a boost.

Delcourt ended up with season-highs of seven kills and a .417 attack percent (minimum 10 attempts).

With help from the Hoosiers' .050 attack percentage, the Wildcats never trailed in the second game and cruised to a quick win.

Indiana (9-11, 2-7) kept it closer in the third game in part because of NU's 10 attack errors. Still, the Wildcats managed a .208 attack percent and grinded out 20 kills to the Hoosiers' 13, and then held on for the win.

"We wanted it, we knew what it took and we wouldn't accept less," said Chan. "I'm extremely happy with the way we rebounded from last weekend's losses."

The Wildcats stay at home for another night, hosting Purdue at 7 p.m. Saturday. Fans with a Northwestern-Wisconsin football ticket stub receive free admission.
