- Email:
Ellyse Hamlin joined Claire Pollard's staff prior to the 2022 season.
In her first year with the 'Cats, Hamlin helped the team to a 14-10 record and a 23rd straight NCAA Tournament appearance. With Hamlin's guidance, Northwestern constructed a perfect 8-0 home record and an 8-3 conference mark that gave them a third-place finish in the Big Ten.
After falling short of a postseason berth in 2023, the Wildcats returned to the national tournament after a dominant 2024 campaign. Once again, Hamlin assisted the 'Cats to an unblemished home record and a trip to the Big Ten Tournament semifinal, where they eventually fell to Ohio State. Their NCAA Tournament appearance was the 33rd in program history.
Prior to her time in Evanston, Hamlin served as an assistant coach at Yale for the 2020 season, in which the Bulldogs went 9-3 before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. She remained on Yale's staff through the canceled 2020-21 season before making the move to Northwestern.
Before starting her coaching career, Hamlin excelled as a player at Duke from 2015-19. She compiled 86 singles wins and 89 doubles wins in four seasons with the Blue Devils. Hamlin earned an ITA All-American selection following the 2017-18 season and was an All-ACC honoree in three seasons at Duke. She helped her squad to the NCAA Tournament all four years, and led Duke to the NCAA semifinals in both her junior and senior seasons.
