Ellie Macchione joined Northwestern Athletics as a Learning Strategist and Study Skills Coordinator in May of 2022. She works closely with student-athletes from all sports to provide academic support and enhance their academic skill sets throughout their college careers. She also acts as a liaison with AccessibleNU to ensure that students with learning disabilities have access to their academic accommodations and other important resources. Lastly, she also coordinates and oversees the N’CAT Tutoring Program.
Prior to Northwestern, Macchione spent four years at Auburn University as an Academic Counselor for football, where she guided football student-athletes towards graduation and tracked NCAA continuing eligibility for her caseload.
Before arriving at Auburn, Macchione completed a two-year graduate internship in athletics while pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Florida. In this role she worked full-time as an academic advising intern for the University Athletic Association and worked directly with student-athletes from football.
Macchione earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stetson University in 2016, where she was the founder and president of the Women’s Club Soccer team. She earned her master’s degree in sport management from the University of Florida in 2018. She originally hails from Conyers, Georgia and currently lives in Highland Park with her fiancé, Austin.
