Christopher Schoen was named Associate Athletic Director of External Affairs in April 2024. In his role, Schoen will play a crucial role in driving revenue and attendance growth, enhancing fan engagement and the game-day atmosphere, and executing strategic marketing initiatives and campaigns to drive the Wildcat brand.
Prior to arriving in Evanston, Schoen served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing & Digital Revenue strategy for the Auburn Tigers. In this role, he oversaw the totality of the marketing, branding, and digital revenue strategy for all 17 of Auburn’s varsity teams with a focus on Auburn’s six ticketed sports.
Schoen's time on The Plains saw multiple attendance and revenue records be broken including setting new high marks in Football, Baseball & Women’s Basketball season ticket revenue, Football, Men’s Basketball & Women’s Basketball fan & student attendance, as well as helping to set new records for total revenue generated in a single season for the Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball programs in addition to overseeing the most successful Football season ticket renewal campaign in over five years.
Before working with the Tigers, Schoen served as Director of Marketing for the Colorado Buffaloes and the Assistant Director of Marketing for the Oklahoma Sooners. His stints in both Boulder & Norman saw more than 15 revenue and attendance records be set for the teams he handled the marketing for. His passion for sports marketing began during his time as a marketing intern for his alma mater, Purdue University.
Schoen, originally from South Bend, Ind., earned his undergraduate degree in Public Relations & Strategic Communications from Purdue University’s Brian Lamb School of Communication. He also holds a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from Auburn University where he worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletics Marketing department. In his free time, Schoen enjoys hiking, skiing, reading fiction, and attending Chicago Blackhawks games.
