Aaron Hosmon returned to Northwestern University as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Regulatory Affairs in May 2024. Hosmon oversees the Northwestern’s athletics compliance program, working to support alignment with the bylaws, rules, and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and Northwestern University. He also serves as the main liaison between NUDAR and the university’s Government Relations Office and Office of General Counsel.
A 2003 graduate of Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy, Hosmon has spent the majority of his career at his alma mater. He started his career in the institution’s financial aid and admissions office and then helped organize and launch a data collection center for a Mellon Foundation-supported college athletics study housed at Northwestern before accepting his first full-time position in NUDAR in January 2008. Hosmon served in a series of progressive roles in Northwestern’s athletics compliance office and ultimately lead the office from May 2015 through June 2019 as the Associate AD for Compliance. He was then recruited to the institution’s campus compliance office where he served as the university’s Director of Compliance and Ethics from June 2019 until June 2020.
From June 2020 until May 2024, Hosmon served as the Associate Executive Director/Compliance & Governance for the Ivy League conference office, directing the league’s compliance and governance programs. Nationally, he represented the Ivy League on the NCAA FCS Football Oversight Committee where he served as the FCS representative to the Football Oversight Committee Student-Athlete Connection Group and as a member of the FBSOC/FCSOC Recruiting Subgroup.
Hosmon is actively involved in the leadership of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC). In 2023-2024, he served on NAAC’s Board of Directors as the CCACA representative and has been a member of the Legislation and Governance Committee since September 2018. He will serve as NAAC’s third vice president starting in June 2024.
As an undergraduate at Northwestern, the Evansville, Ind., native worked in NUDAR as a student athletic trainer, supporting the football, men’s basketball, soccer and field hockey programs, and then as a student manager for the men’s basketball program. In addition to his undergraduate degree in Learning and Organizational Change and Political Science, Hosmon also earned a Master’s Degree from Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy in Higher Education Administration and Policy in 2007. He has served as a teaching assistant, research coach and guest presented in his graduate program in the years since his graduation.
Hosmon and his wife Jenny reside in Chicago with their two children, Aoife and Aidan.
