EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 68-ranked Northwestern plays its final two home matches of the season this weekend, hosting Purdue on Friday, April 3, at 6 p.m. CT and No. 62 Indiana on Sunday, April 5, at 10 a.m. CT. Senior Chad Miller will be recognized in a pre-match ceremony on Sunday morning.

This past weekend, the Wildcats (13-10, 1-7 Big Ten) fell to Penn State 4-3 and were swept by No. 2 Ohio State. Against the Nittany Lions, Northwestern jumped out to an early lead by capturing the doubles point. Sophomore Carter Pate put the Wildcats up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 result at No. 1 singles, and junior Greyson Casey helped Northwestern tab its third point of the evening 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. The Wildcats, however, were unable to close out the match.

Still, Northwestern's 13 wins are tied for the fourth-most in the conference. The Wildcats' 13 wins exceed their totals from the 2023 (10) and 2024 (12) dual seasons. From Jan. 18-Feb. 14, Northwestern held a nine-match winning streak, the program's longest streak since winning nine straight to open the 2017 dual season, and the Wildcats' eight sweeps this season are their most in a campaign since 2023 (9).

Casey and Pate moved up to the ITA's No. 18-ranked doubles team in the nation on Tuesday, as they boast an unblemished 16-0 record. They are Northwestern's highest-ranked doubles team since April 21, 2021 (Simen Bratholm and Nick Brookes, No. 17). The third-ranked doubles pairing in the Big Ten, Pate and Casey's 16 wins are the most by a Wildcat duo since Strong Kirchheimer and Dominik Stary won 19 in the 2016-17 season. Pate and Casey are two wins away from tying Danny Weiss and Martin Hampe (1984-85) for the 10th most wins by a doubles team in program history.

Pate, who has competed at the No. 1 slot in both singles and doubles in the majority of his matches, leads the team with 13 singles wins (13-8) and 17 wins in doubles (17-1). His 17 doubles wins are the most doubles wins by a Northwestern player in a dual season since at least 2019. Pate's 30 total wins lead the team and are the most by a Wildcat since Steven Forman had 32 in the 2022 dual season. Pate has nine wins at No. 1 singles, the most by a Northwestern player at the No. 1 singles spot since the 2023 dual season, when Forman tallied 11 (11-4).

Junior Ethan Schiffman — a transfer from Cal — has the second-most singles wins on the team with 12. Primarily playing at No. 4 singles, Schiffman has a 12-5 record, as his .688 win percentage in singles is the best on the team (min. 10 singles matches). Furthermore, Schiffman has tallied the second-most wins on the team with 24, as he has a 12-7 doubles record. Schiffman and junior Cyrus Mahjoob are 10-7 together, typically appearing at the No. 2 doubles position.

Casey holds an undefeated 16-0 record in doubles. He has 21 total wins on the season, as he has five singles wins, playing primarily at the No. 3 slot.

First-year Cooper Han has enjoyed a fruitful start to his college career. Competing in the bottom third of the singles lineup, Han has a 9-5 singles record, as well as a 5-2 doubles record. His nine singles wins are the most by a Northwestern first-year since Presley Thieneman in the 2021 dual season (12).

The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Boilermakers (4-12, 0-7 Big Ten), 76-21-2. Northwestern has won five straight matches over Purdue dating back to 2021. The Wildcats have not lost to the Boilermakers at home since 2010. Purdue is the only team in the Big Ten without a win in conference play, falling to Indiana last weekend. The Boilermakers are led by Nour Fathalla, their No. 1 singles player, who has a 6-7 record on the season.

Northwestern has beaten the Hoosiers (9-7, 3-4 Big Ten) in four of the last five matches between the two squads. The Wildcats, who lead the all-time series 52-42, are seeking their first ranked win of the season. Last weekend, Indiana defeated Purdue, 4-1. The Hoosiers have the No. 36 doubles team nationally in Matteo Antonescu and Michael Andre, who are 10-2 in the dual season together. They also possess the No. 68 doubles team in the country with Sam Landau and Braeden Gelletich, who are a perfect 4-0 together.

After the home stand, Northwestern makes a West Coast trip next weekend, traveling to face No. 26 USC on Friday, April 10, at 5 p.m. CT and No. 22 UCLA on Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m. CT.
